Robin
Sound

A song in parts, one press from playing.

Sound holds five tabs: Music, Voice, Pads, Sets and Radio. The synth, the pads, sets, the radio, chords and humming run on your Mac for free, and a press that needs a provider says its price first.

The Music tab with the Rainy bookshop demo: the song’s title, its waveform marked Intro, Verse, Chorus and Outro, and its four parts, drums, bass, piano and rain, laid out by section.
  • Five tabs Music, Voice, Pads, Sets and Radio, on ⌃1 to ⌃5.
  • Free on your Mac The synth, the pads, sets, the radio, chords and humming.
  • Audio Units Any instrument on your Mac, on a lane of notes.
  • Full songs Minutes long, on your own key, priced before anything is sent.

Opens on a demo. Rainy bookshop: A song in four parts and four sections, to play and rearrange. Free, on your Mac, nothing to set up.

Hum it in, keep the best take.

Hum or sing a tune and it lands as notes on a new lane, in the song’s key and tempo. Every take you record over a lane is kept, to choose the best of each. Compare two takes A and B at one loudness.

  • Automation Read, Touch, Latch or Write, for the volume and the pan line.
  • Instrument Robin’s own, or any Audio Unit, with its own window.
  • Strip silence by threshold and shortest silence, one Undo away.

A full song, and its video.

Rainy bookshop as a full song on the Music tab, over the bookshop in the rain: 2:06 at 84 BPM, its waveform marked Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, Bridge and Outro, and the arrangement under it by the same sections.

Sixty-four pads, and a set from a sentence.

Robin fills sixteen pads, or sixty-four with scenes down the side, and you play. Every loop is fitted to the grid: cut to whole bars at its real tempo, its seam crossfaded and levelled. Hold Filter, Stutter, Echo, Wash, Tape stop or Pitch, or Latch one on. Plug in a pad controller and it lights up with the set.

Berlin Night on Sound’s pads: sixty-four clips in eight parts from Kick to FX, eight scenes from Intro to Outro down the side, and the grid’s key beside it.

Sets, and a radio that never ends.

Plan a set: a style, 6, 10 or 14 tracks, a tempo range and an energy arc. Robin writes each track’s score, and your Mac plays them as one continuous mix, blended over 16 bars, for free. Radio plays your tracks, then new ones made on your Mac. Go live streams to YouTube Live, Twitch or your own server, on your own stream key.

Friday night set being made on this Mac: in the chat, Robin is making it, 4 of 10, about 6 minutes left, 1 failed, with Stop; beside it the set list, its tempo from 120 to 138 BPM and a card for each track.

Voices for the cast.

On Voice, say who someone is and Robin picks a voice, keeps it in the project’s cast and plays a sample. Their scenes sit line by line on a timeline, and Export mixes it to one file. With no voice key, your Mac’s own voices read the lines for free.

Sixty-four pads, and a set from a sentence.

Ask for a set and Robin composes every loop, in time and in key, and plays it on your Mac: eight parts across, eight scenes down the side.

  • Scenes Launch a row and the track moves on at the next bar.
  • Hold to play Filter, stutter, echo, wash, tape stop and pitch, on while you hold them. Record a take.
  • A pad controller Plug one in and it lights up with the set, and its pads play it.
  • Export Every loop as a WAV, with an SFZ for any sampler.
