Robin
Film

From a brief to a cut.

Film is for an explainer, a trailer or a short. Cut by the words, cut the best stretches into shorts, and deliver a file for every place you post. The cut, the mix and the export run on your Mac, with nothing to install.

  • Cut by the words Take out the ums and ahs, from the transcript.
  • Ranked shorts The take’s best stretches, framed and captioned.
  • Loudness in one press Matched to −14 for social or −23 for broadcast.
  • To another editor Final Cut Pro XML, OpenTimelineIO or an EDL.

Opens on a demo. Night Ferry: The quay at night, its cut of six shots, its filmed take and its two voices. Free, on your Mac, nothing to set up.

Cut it by what is said.

The four presses on the rail are free. The speech is heard on your Mac when macOS’s speech model is allowed for Robin; otherwise it is read with your voice key, about 1¢ a minute.

  • Add to cut this take, or the stretch you marked, at the end of the cut.
  • Cut by the words the ums and ahs out, the long pauses tightened, or words cut from the transcript.
  • Make ranked shorts 15 to 60 seconds each, best first.
  • Deliver for every platform a file for each shape, mastered to loudness.
Night Ferry’s cut on the Film bench: the lit ferry at the quay at night in the rain, over the transport, and the cut’s lanes under it, its title, its six filmed shots from The quay to The wake, the voice’s lines and the horn.

Measured, not guessed.

A loudness meter sits beside the mix and matches it in one press. Scopes over the picture show the waveform, the parade and the vectorscope. Keyframes hold as well as ease. Cut on the beat ends every shot on the music’s nearest beat.

Masks that follow.

Put a rectangle, an ellipse, bars, a split or a star on any clip, placed, feathered or inverted, by hand or by asking. Follow a thing keeps it on what it covers as it moves, free on your Mac. Multicam puts the clips of one moment in step by their sound; cut between the angles with 1 to 9 as it plays.

Night Ferry’s cut on the Film bench with a multicam laid after the wake: its three angles under the picture, 1 The quay, 2 The horn and 3 From above, the third lit and showing the ferry’s rail over the harbour at night.

A new take, its price first.

Change a marked stretch of a shot by words, restyle a take with every movement kept, extend a clip from its last frame, or make a clip between two stills. Sound it, Music to the cut and Re-voice the line add sound to the picture. Each opens a priced panel, and Robin, asked in the chat, puts each paid step to you first. From the Stage, Make the film lays every planned shot on a timeline, free on your Mac.

Night Ferry’s cut on the Film bench after Make the film: the four shots on the storyline at their times in the plan, the quay, the rope, the crane up from the rail and the wake, the title over the opening, and the quay’s filmed take in the viewer.

Out to every place you post.

Post… checks the cut for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, saves a file for each and hands it to each app; you press post yourself. Edit list writes a CMX 3600 EDL, Final Cut Pro XML or OpenTimelineIO against the same source files, and if Final Cut Pro is on your Mac, Open in Final Cut Pro is there too.

The price before you press.

Every make says what it costs and whose it is before it runs. Above the limit you set, it waits for your yes.
